Looking Forward - My Summer Edit 🌸
Looking Forward - My Summer Edit 🌸
Looking forward to things, however big or small, is crucial during this time and the idea of finally bursting out of our current isolated bubble in a new summer number, I find is a very cheering and comforting thought. Looking at lovely things that you may one day treat yourself to or wear can lift the spirts. Also, with a fully decluttered wardrobe, the perfect ‘lockdown’ pass time, why not raise a smile by playing dress-up, reminisce over stories your clothes tell and plan for what new piece you would like to see hanging on the rails. Fashion is a creative and joyous thing so why not use it as your little bubble of escapism. I know I’m already thinking and planning on how are where I will be dressed and wearing my favourite new summer pieces to after lockdown.
M.A.B.E, formally Star Mela, has some gorgeous pieces for SS20. With their signature boho look shining through and pretty embroidery, prints and embellishments in abundance M.A.B.E ’s easy to wear collection is perfect for the British summer time as well as on a tropical sandy beach. The Alberta Embroidered Blue Dress £135.00 and Lindi Frill dress £175.00 are two of my favourites. Both are easy to team with a pair of trainers or sandals and are easy go-to dresses which can be thrown on 1st thing in the morning without too much thought or zhooshing!

Next Up is the Samsoe & Samsoe Jolie dress in rose flower £140.00. I’ve always been a big fan of an oversized shape, I do understand it’s not for everyone and every figure, but Jolie is such a pretty little number. The jacquard flower print fabric in a soft pale pink is feminine & fresh and the plunging V neckline breaks up the fabric showing a bit of flesh. With a pair of soft tan ankle boots like these ones from Zara and you are good to go. Another Samsoe & Samsoe dress I can’t not mention is the Kaia long dress in bright coral £140.00. The colour is just electric and with a tan, even if it’s out of a bottle this year, it is a stand out dress that can be worn dresses up or down.

Stardust, a small UK brand, designs and creates a signature print each season. For SS20 they have come up with a vibrant and exotic bird print in a number of stunning colourways. I love the bright yellow version (Evelyn Bird Tea Dress Yellow £177.00) but a softer more subtle option is the dusty pink. The Bloom Bird Maxi Dress Pink £189.00 is a classic wrap style, it really is an ultra flattering fit. Made from a soft viscose fabrication making it easy to care for and therefore doesn’t have to be saved for best!

Pink City Print’s is another of my absolutely favourite summer brands. Hand crafted from artisans in Jaipur their beautiful block prints and fun and bright for the summer months. The classic Rah-Rah style (Rah Rah Dress Spanish 70's £160.00) with it’s elasticated waistband and on or off the shoulder detail is a firm favourite and if you prefer a little more cover the Panama Provencal Dress £165.00 is definitely worth a look. It has a gorgeous South of France feel with it’s white & blue block print design. All we need now is a French baguette and a straw basket but a supermarket loaf in a ‘bag for life’ may have to suffice for now!
